SAFE Wisconsin receives and donates thousands of stuffed animals to organizations in Wisconsin that help children in crisis situations. SAFE Wisconsin relies on volunteers to help us reach as many children in possible, to ensure no child goes unnoticed. Below you will find a few ways you can help SAFE and its mission.
We rely on volunteers to help us process our donations. Tasks include evaluating and sorting plush based on type and size, cleaning and sanitizing, and performing minor repairs.
Once donations are sorted and sanitized, they are placed into sealed bags in packs of five. These packs are referred to as SAFE Packs which can easily be placed into a police car or ambulance and replenished as needed.
We are always looking for people who are willing to drop off SAFE Packs to our partners through out the state, and to pick up recently donated items from our drop off site partners. Generally, miles driven for charity are tax deductible (consult your tax professional).
Rather than dispatching drivers, we rely on volunteers to communicate with us when they will be in a certain area. Planning a trip one hour or more outside of the Milwaukee area (Greenbay, Madison, etc)? Let us know! If we have partners in the area in need of a restock or pickup, it would be wonderful if you were able to help us out along your journey.
If you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities above, please email us at safewisconsin@gmail.com to get the process started.
